Powder Coating Allows UKM to Offer Additional Finishing Options

(Kulpsville, PA) In an ongoing effort to improve finish quality and yet reduce VOC(volatile organic compound) emissions as directed by the Pennsylvania DER, UKM has started powder coating using polyester, hybrid and epoxy coatings.

Equipped with the latest in media blast, spray booth and baking technologies, UKM has quickly realized the cost and appearance benefits to powder coating.

Over the past year several car builders, including Siemens Industry Mobility Division, have updated their paint specification to encourage the use of powder over current high VOC wet spraying applications.  Since powder can produce a thicker coating without runs and sags and emit zero or near zero VOC's, it is quickly becoming the coating of choice for many Transit Authorities around the US.
